Kathy Ver Eecke tackles the topic of entrepreneur bosses. In our April 2011 issue, we are lucky to have her sharing her views on this topic. Kathy says that she finds entrepreneurs so focused on moving forward, as fast as possible, to reach whatever end they’re working towards. They fear anything that they perceive will slow them down or box them in.
I can only agree with her. I have worked in at least two entrepreneurial setups and believe this to be the case in fact. Yes, entrepreneurs are incredibly focused on moving forward and on their goals. There is a kind of madness to their method. And for whatever areas that we believe entrepreneurs are lacking in, this focus and zeal – they score some points there, for sure. Imagine being so focused, so single minded about what you wanted to do and achieve. The hours go by in a blink and the days melt into weeks. Who cares? You are loving it, every minute of every day as you work and toil away at your little prized possession, whatever that may be.
When was the last time you were so focused on moving forward? Are you now? How does that make you feel?
Is anybody in your way? Do you even care?
You’ve got to ask yourself the hard questions. All the time.
Are you going where you want to be?
What excuse are you giving yourself for why you cant be where you want to be?
Make a decision. Be true to yourself about it.
Then live with it. It’s better than fooling yourself.
