More on the two choices

It’s always heartening to hear and see tangible evidence of the things you believe in. I know the power of one. I also know the power of many.   I said earlier that we always have two choices – do something or sit still. Act on what you believe in or ignore the voice.   Can you imagine what we could do – if we believed in what we could accomplish? If we didn’t set ourselves internal limits? If we had faith in the people who work with us? If we dreamed big? It would be phenomenal.   Do you want to see this in action? Then watch how a country – Estonia – mobilised and cleaned up its garbage in 1 day. It was the brainchild of one person but it involved putting the idea out there, collaborating, planning and then mobilising. All of this involved preparation and attention to detail. It also involved recognition that while on our own, we sometimes cannot achieve much, there are times that together, our contribution can be staggering.   A team of professionals got to work engaging and expanding on the idea and 50,000 volunteers were recruited. The nation did what had to be done – clean their own country up. This was clearly one of the most ambitious volunteer projects at hand and it culminated in a major clean-up that took place in a single day. It’s been said that this achievement would have taken the government up to three years to accomplish.   It’s a five minute video showing very clearly how this happened – exciting stuff !  Thanks to John Strelecky for sharing this with me.
