To Listen

To listen,   …you have to suspend judgment …you have to be patient …you have to keep an open mind …you have to be emotionally level …you have to consider possibilities outside the range you’ve considered before …you have to hear the other side, not form rebuttals in your head as they explain themselves …you have to keep quiet while they talk …you have to be open.   Preferably, you should do these all at the same time. To be heard and to be understood. To know that someone has heard you with their heart and mind, and for the person to hear beyond the words spoken, is something we all want for ourselves, don’t we? How often can you say that you’ve truly listened?
