Sometimes, things happen.
You have a car accident and rip your bumper.
You take a long call while cooking and dinner is accidentally burnt.
You’ve been working hard on a project and suddenly, a new development means that the hard work is now worthless. Completely useless.
There’s so much cruelty in hindsight. It makes you feel stupid and it makes you second guess yourself because you’re left wondering why you didnt come to the important realisations at the time you should have – instead of much later. But I’d like to think that sometimes, things are the way they are because that is exactly how they needed to develop and be.
It could be that these things you need to face and deal with are happening not because of what you are doing but in spite of what you are doing. It could be that these things you need to face keep popping up in different situations and relationships because you’re not seeing what you need to see.
Sure, things look a little unclear, hazy even. Hey, maybe it’s even, dare I say, unfair. But whoever promised a fair life anyway? Where did we get this notion of fairness from?
You try. You fail. You try again. It’s a daily struggle and sometimes, it feels like a minute by minute struggle. It may even feel like Groundhog Day. But it’s there for a reason.
In my experience, the place I am at, is frequently, the place I need to be at. There’s a lesson I am not picking up on, a vibe that’s not connecting with me at a deeper level and so I need to stay at that place until the connection comes through, until the lesson is learnt. Let’s be clear, that could take days, it could take years.
How would you approach your life if you knew that everything you’re experiencing right now, all the pain you are going through is there for a reason, one that may not be entirely clear to you right now?Or even one that you’re prefer not to acknowledge.
How would you react and what would you tell yourself if you knew that there was something you needed to do or think differently about in order to get past this hurdle?
What would you do differently if you knew that where you are right now is exactly where you need to be?
