How I Respect Your Time. Tip #1. Link to the story

So much of what you communicate nowadays is rarely face to face, even when you are face to face. You send text messages, skype or IM or email, run blog posts or you provide status updates.

With text, each line must entice you to read the next. Brevity is key at a time when you have so much pushing and pulling your attention.

So how will I respect your time?

If I am writing to you, posting or updating, I say what needs to be said only. I try to cut down on long-winded stories or drama. If there’s a way to link to the full story (mine or the others), I provide a URL. Why do you need to spend the time to restate what’s already said? Your time is better spent making a new point. That’s where your impact lies.

This is part of a series of 20 posts on How I Ensure I Respect Your Time.
